Air Compressing Station (ACS)

The system performs the extraction of potentially radioactive air from the inside of hot cells during the production or following a malfunction of the synthesis modules. The extracted air is then sent to a compressing station which stocks it in cylinders until its decay. Once decayed, the air, which is no more contaminated, is unloaded outside (through the output ducting of the general ventilation of the lab) after being monitored by a Geiger probe placed inside a Marinelli system shielded with Pb 20 mm (optional on customer request).

The system is able to control one or more COMECER production and manipulation cells. The Compressing Station can also be connected to a vacuum pump of the cyclotron: in case of target crash or other incident, the contaminated air will be piped to the storage tank. This is a modular system and its capacity can be adapted depending on the number of cells and the volumes of air to be treated.
