Can be defined as a process for separating lighter particles from heavier ones (usually for powders) using a vertically-directed stream of gas or liquid (usually upwards) with a controlled velocity. Powder processing have led to demands for increasingly finer particles and narrower particle size distributions within industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals and toners.
