Shielded cell for sampling of the liquid radioactive waste contained in storage tanks

The shielded cell for sampling of radioactive waste consists in a confined and shielded cell box aimed at sampling the liquid radioactive waste contained in storage tanks.

This sampling system allows the following actions to be carried out under safe radiological conditions:

  • significant sampling of solutions
  • contained in storage tanks
  • filling, sealing and handling of sample vials
  • packaging of samples in shielded containers allowing their transport outside the cell. Thanks to telemanipulators, sampling operations are completely remotized, so that the staff members are not exposed to direct radiation and contamination.
