Joure (Netherlands), Monday, 2 April 2012 – Comecer S.p.A. is proud to announce the acquisition of Veenstra Instruments.

Comecer and Veenstra, undisputed leaders in Europe and among the major operators worldwide, are now side by side in Comecer Group to provide first-class services for nuclear medicine in every aspect – concept, electronics, mechanics and software. This is one of the most important operations seen in nuclear medicine.

The acquisition allows Comecer to integrate its range of products with some of the best electronic technologies and software programs for nuclear medicine. The Veenstra product portfolio will increase the offer of Comecer Group and contribute to expand their reference market.

The corporate structures of Comecer and Veenstra will remain unchanged: Veenstra becomes part of Comecer Group maintaining its own brand and specific competences, which will integrate and complete Comecer’s know-how.

“The most important synergism will be between the R&D (Research & Development) departments, where the diversity of cultures represents an additional asset that we hope will prove decisive”, said Alessia Zanelli, managing director of Comecer SpA.

The operation was completed with the support of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR SpA, the private equity vehicle created by the Ministry of the Economy to support the growth of technologically advanced companies.

The Fondo became a Comecer SpA  shareholder  in March 2011, through a capital increase.

Comecer was assisted in the transaction by Marco Polo Advisor as financial advisors and by Curtis, Mallet, Prevost as legal advisors.
